About Us
The Office of the County Attorney provides and coordinates legal services for the County. These services include:
processing and managing tort claims; handling County litigation through direct representation or coordination of
retained counsel; prosecution of code and zoning violations; court appearances and representation before regulatory
agencies; processing public finance and economic development issues; issuance of legal opinions; performing
legal research; drafting ordinances, resolutions, contracts, leases, deeds and other legal documents; maintaining
Council Rules of Procedure; monitoring legislation and compliance requirements; assisting County on grievance proceedings;
providing legal consultation to County departments, elected officials, and certain boards and commissions;
and providing and coordinating employment law advice for Human Resources. The office is involved professionally
with the S.C. Bar, Greenville County Bar, SCAC, SCACA, and IMLA.
What We Do
The mission of the County Attorney’s office is to provide professional legal advice and representation for the County
and its departments and agencies. With its staff of highly-trained and experienced attorneys and skilled support staff, the County
Attorney’s office is committed to providing the highest quality legal services in the most efficient and effective manner possible
for the County of Greenville Government, members of County Council, Elected Officials, County Departments, and related agencies.
What We Do Not Do
- Provide legal services to individual employees on personal matters
