This month we are highlighting AJ Langer. He is a Telecommunicator that works A-Shift and has been working for Greenville County EMS since 2017.
What is your favorite quote, saying, or motto?
It’s a quote from Willy Wonka, where Willy tells Charlie, “But Charlie, don’t forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted.”
And Charlie responded, “What happened?”
“He lived happily ever after,” replied Willy Wonka.
What is your greatest achievement in life so far?
Surviving all the curveballs.
What is your #1 pet peeve?
Bad grammar and spelling.
What is your most memorable moment in your EMS career?
When I was working for Mobile Care I was taking home a guy in his 70s. He had been discharged from hospital and we were taking him home with hospice,
to die. He told me he always thought the best day of his life was when he came back from Vietnam, but this was actually the best day of his life.
What is your favorite movie or play?
Jaws, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Chorus Line.
What would constitute a perfect EMS crew member?
Someone who doesn’t stand in the way and always helps out their crew members no matter what.
What is your best kept secret?
If forced I can cook a decent meal.
What would you consider your worst habit?
Correcting people.
Greatest inspiration in your life?
My Dad.
What is your favorite food item?
Coffee flavored ice cream.
What would be considered luxury to you?
Infinite time to read infinite books.
If you could meet anyone in the history of the world, who and why?
Gerald Ford. I’m a huge fan of his in general, but also because he pardoned Nixon. I would want
to ask him if he would have done it again if he knew it would be the end of his career.
What would your epitaph say?
“He came, he saw, he wanted a nap.”
What is your favorite type of music?
Everything but rap and hip-hop.
Where would you like to grow old?
A beach in Maine.
